VDA 19.1 (2026) Online Conference: Registration Start

In modern automotive manufacturing, the technical cleanliness of parts and components is a critical quality characteristic. VDA 19.1 – Technical Cleanliness Inspection Standard specifies the methods and procedures used to characterize the technical cleanliness of products.


The first edition of VDA 19 was published in January 2005. It underwent its first comprehensive revision and update in 2015, released as VDA 19.1. Since its publication, the standard has been widely applied and developed across the industry.


With the advancement of automotive technology—especially the recent push toward electrification—cleanliness requirements for vehicles and components have increased. Part sizes have grown, electrical components are increasingly involved, and manufacturing processes more frequently involve dry process chains. This has created new inspection demands, accumulated more inspection experience, and led to the emergence of new inspection methods.


To keep pace with these trends and further ensure the comparability of cleanliness inspection results, VDA 19.1 has undergone a second full revision and update, with the new Red Book standard (GermanVersion) published in March 2026.

In this new version:

  • New inspection methods introduced

  • Start parameters adjusted

  • Procedure of decline test, final rinsing, blank value test and routine test optimized

  • Description of procedure, methods and requirements put in more details


VDA QMC China will host the VDA 19.1 (2026) Online Conference on 16 April 2026. At the event, VDA QMC China Senior Quality Managers Wang Yanmin and Lyons Song from VDA QMC China will offer an in-depth interpretation from the perspective of both the standard drafting project group and China mirror project group. Industry experts  Wang Lei from Jomesa Measurement Systems (China) Co., Ltd. and Zou Danting from  Glaeser (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. will share practical insights drawn from real-world application scenarios. Together, the speakers will provide a comprehensive analysis of the key changes in the new standard from both theoretical and practical dimensions.
